BRIER’S HALL WILL BE ARMORY

E. H. Roach, Captain; E. S. Wickersham, 1st Lieutenant and Clyde Ijams, 2d Leut.

The progressive spirit of Safford was well testified to Wednesday night when Major Coykendall, Assistant Adjutant General, National Guard, State of Arizona, mustered into service the first military company organized in this town.

Major Coykendall arrived here from Phoenix Wednesday afternoon and in company with Major E. H. Roach, assembled the new company at Brier’s Hall.

Major Coykendall administered the oath to the company and completed the organization of the new militia company for the Arizona National Guard.

After the company was mustered into the service, a meeting was held and the following officers were elected:

E. H. Roach, Captain.

E. S. Wickersham, First Lieutenant.

Clyde Ijams, Second Lieutenant.

The following non-commissioned officers were appointed:

Charles Donnelly, First Sergeant.

Geo. S. Martin, Surgeon and Quartermaster Sergeant.

John F. Weber, Company Clerk.

John H. Baker, Sergeant.

The members of the company are as follows:

The company will hold its first business meeting next Wednesday night, March 8th, at the Armory (Brier’s Hall). At this meeting the remaining non-commissioned officers will be appointed.

All members are requested to attend a meeting tomorrow (Saturday) night, at the county court house, for the purpose of being measured for uniforms.
